Crofton Academy 

The newly-refurbished Technology Facility at Crofton Academy (which was project-managed by Ian Wynn, of Bokkidezzine Ltd), is kitted out with a range of CAD/CAM equipment from Denford Limited,  including a Router 2600 Pro CNC Router, a PCB Engraver and 2 x VLS Series Laser Cutters.

The Academy is proud to be working with Denford and is particularly grateful for the support at the Open Evening in September 2011, when the newly-opened Technology Suite proved to be of particular interest to prospective parents.

Academy Staff have now been trained in the use of machines by experienced Denford Staff; and this training is on-going, as Denford continue to support both the Staff and the Facility.

Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker and Andrew Denford

Of the work that Denford and F1 in Schools do Whittaker said “Andrew's introduction to the F1 in Schools challenge is an incredibly exciting project that covers 38 countries worldwide and 15,000 schools. It is a British idea, a Brighouse idea, and is created to engage young people into not just Formula One™ but into engineering and covers subject’s right across the curriculum. Denford's has 26 employees manufacturing exclusively in the UK and they have some great products that are sold and exported overseas on the back of the F1 in schools.  It is engaging children which is important and I am incredibly impressed by what I have seen today,"

Denford continues to focus on the educational market and to invest in the company’s manufacturing facilities. We recently installed a new production facility and trained our skilled fitters, electricians and design engineers in ‘workplace continuous manufacturing strategies’ such as ‘Kaizen’ and ’5S’.  Mr Whittaker was given a tour of the new manufacturing facilities and introduced to the new manufacturing techniques.

Andrew Denford said of Whittaker’s visit “We are delighted that Craig made time in his busy schedule to visit our new facility and with the 7th F1 in Schools World Finals being held in Malaysia in September it was a fantastic opportunity for Craig to learn more about the global success of the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge of which Denford are the proud founders and sponsors.
